Sheila Totorp's Chinese Chicken Salad

Salad
lettuce
green onion, chopped
mandarin oranges
sliced almonds, toasted
sesame seeds, toasted
wontons, fried
chicken
Get the wontons from the refridgerated section and fry. (I have found that a local Korean market has superior wontons to the regular grocery store.) You can toast the almonds and sesame seeds, but I have always bought them pretoasted. I usually get precooked, chopped chicken, but you can also bake a chicken with salt and pepper or boil it.

Dressing
1/4 c. vinegar
1/4 c. ketchup
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. soy sauce
6 tbsp. sugar
Mix 1 tbsp. cornstarch with 2 tbsp. water
1/2 c. butter (softened)
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Add all of the ingredients to a saucepan, heat until clear and thick. Simmer for 1 minute then cool. I usually double the dressing recipe.
